40 Days, 40 Habits You Should Break; Day #6: Trying to be “Bout That Life”
Bad Habit #6: Trying to be “Bout That Life”
There are far too many people of our generation that aren’t realistic and think of themselves in a better light than they probably should. A major part of this is due to the fact that there are so many people who are obsessed with trying to be “bout that life”. Originally adapted as a saying for thugs who were down with serving life in prison for murder, this saying has gotten out of control. First of all, none of y’all out there are that hard. You would instantly shit yourself if you found out you had to do any jail time for anything, let alone have the balls to commit the incriminating action in the first place. Stop pretending to be something you aren’t; you aren’t proving anything to anyone, and you look stupid. Now, for those of you who are trying to be “bout that life” in a less violent sense, I have a bigger problem with you. Half of y’all are out here trying to live beyond your means and pretend you are a celebrity. Bougie ass lifestyles and no priorities are what define you. Know your role and play your part. Stop trying to idolize the folks you see on (reality) TV by tailoring your life to that of those people when you know your ass in unemployed and should be paying bills instead of buying expensive items to impress people every night in the club. If you truly want to be rich, work hard at something and set some fucking goals for yourself; stop thinking you can skip steps and get away with failing to do the require work involved. None of y’all are going to gain reality TV (or some other sort of illusive) fame, so just reassess your lives now. Trying to be “bout a life” that isn’t yours makes you look pretty foolish. Trust me… it’s ok to be normal. You don’t have to try to appear like a street thug or as a celebrity; it’s really unconvincing and we all know you aren’t.
Don’t be “bout that life”…be bout YOUR life.
