Whenever we make mistakes, someone’s in our ear telling us “nobody’s perfect”. As true as this is, we hate to hear that because we are going to strive for perfection regardless of the fact that it’s unattainable. While striving to do well is a great trait, there are some people who take it too far and attempt to pass along perfection in every aspect of their lives… and lord, can this be annoying to everyone around them. Perfectionists find it difficult to move forward because they become paralyzed by the fear of failure. The sooner you let go of the need to be perfect, the sooner you’ll get results because it will require you to take action and improve things as you go, often times with less stress and more learning potential along the way.
When it comes to relationships, expecting your significant other to be perfect is absurd and completely unreasonable. You will never find a perfect partner, and that’s ok; it’s all about finding someone who is willing to work with you and dedicate him or herself to being the best significant other they can be. Stop holding people to these standards of perfection, it’s not fair to them, and the reality is… you’ll never be the perfect partner either.
