Bad Habit #33: The Blame Game

As a self-centered culture, we always point the finger at someone else for the negative things happening in our lives… Heaven forbid we have anything to do with these disappointing outcomes! Not taking responsibility when we should is probably a result of our egos not wanting to admit involvement or fault for something. When it comes to relationships, we again tend to blame other people for their behavior towards us, when the reality is that we probably have had some sort of effect on their behavior. What we need to do it stop trying to place all of the blame on other people for how they interact with us. Most social behavior is cause and effect, and people usually treat you in a manner that is indicative of what they feel you deserve based on how you’ve acted towards them. We have to take responsibility for the fact that we are the only constant variable in the separate relationship equations of our lives. Sometimes it is our fault, and that’s ok… no one’s perfect…
